We Geeks and Gamers are a proud lot and like to be known as such without needing to say a word. We wear fun t-shirts and carry massive (or not so massive) gadgets that glow, even in sunlight, to broadcast our Geekdom.
There are some great resources for Geek and Gamer inspired t-shirts and whimsical accessories (heck, we make plenty and it’s damn fun!), but in our search for creative and swanky wear, to step it up a bit (no pun intended), there is considerably less out there.
With that in mind, we’ve set out to bring our interactive, swanky and classy digital design flare to the real world.
So what qualifies us to do such outlandish things, you might ask?
We’re a couple of Geeks and Gamers whom have been immersed in the digital world for many, many moons. We’ve spent the last decade+ developing and designing for the web and online games. We love all of our machines, gadgets and consoles like family (well, almost) and the power that they give us to create and experience amazing things.
Have we always been Geeks and Gamers?
Pretty much. Our digital beginnings started with hardware like the Tandy TRS80 and Atari systems. Our artistic roots stem from the real worlds of metallurgy, photography, painting, drawing, sculpting and the like (oh, and we fancy ourselves to be writers too.). We started slowly hatching our real world Geek design scheme back in 2005 and are now finally bringing it to life.
We’ve heard this question quite a bit lately: Are any of you Geeks at shinyLines female?
Yes, actually. Our fearless leader @aDigitalAngel, and creator of this whole fiasco, is of the female persuasion. She has been an avid Geek and Gamer since the days of Atari and still owns her Trash-80, (ironically, won in a coloring contest from Radio Shack for being the only kid who drew extra stuff outside the lines) still with tons of cartridges intact, including Downland! Tip: Make sure you have a few hours to kill if you ask her about it.
Goals & Such :
When our first real world Geek jewelry pieces finally came to life, while simple, it was an exciting moment and milestone. Soon, more designs will follow. Our goal to bring a different kind of personal style to the Geek image has just begun, however, we’re not just in it for the fun of design and discovery. Ultimately we hope to some day provide, not just monetary philanthropy to groups in Science, Education and Art around the world… but also the opportunity for individuals whom wouldn’t normally have access to the education or facilities, a chance to learn a trade that could benefit their families and communities. A lofty target to hit, yes, but it’s what keeps us going, and we invite you to be a part of it. :D
Taking it to the next level :
We are currently looking for other individuals or organizations whom are passionate about bringing the a fore mentioned to those in need, while also helping us fund and create amazing interactive products in both the real world and digital realms. Please feel free to contact @aDigitalAngel at any time!
Thanks & shineOn,
aDigitalAngel, theBoySL & thatOtherGuy
